Asked, answered
The questions families ask us most, answered the way we'd answer on the phone. If yours isn't here, call — advice is always free.
First steps
Someone has just died. What do I do first?
If the death was expected, call the GP or facility so a doctor can certify the death, then call us — we take care of everything from there. If the death was unexpected, call 000 first. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, and we can be with you within the hour.
Do we need to decide everything straight away?
No. The only urgent step is bringing your person into professional care. Every other decision — the service, the coffin, the dates — can wait until family have talked.
The death happened at home. Is that different?
Only slightly. A doctor must certify the death before we can bring your person into care. If their GP is unavailable, we help arrange this. Then everything proceeds as normal.
Cost and payment
How much does a funeral cost?
Our funerals start at $2,450 for a direct cremation (sample pricing). Every price is published on our pricing page, and you receive a written itemised quote before anything is confirmed.
Can several family members share the cost?
Yes. One invoice can be paid by many contributors — family here and overseas, and community fundraising. We record every contribution so the family always knows the balance.
When do we have to pay?
Nothing is payable to bring your person into care. A deposit is usually payable when arrangements are confirmed, with the balance before or shortly after the service. We will always work with families on timing — just talk to us.
Is there government help with funeral costs?
Sometimes — Services Australia offers a bereavement payment to some Centrelink recipients, and victims' support or workers' compensation schemes can contribute in specific cases. We help you check what applies.
Cultural and religious needs
Can you accommodate our traditions?
That is our specialty. Fijian iTaukei, Indo-Fijian Hindu and Muslim, and Papua New Guinean traditions are at the heart of our practice, and we serve all faiths and cultures. Tell us what your family needs, and it will be done properly.
Can family help wash and dress our person?
Yes. Family participation in preparing a loved one is welcome at our facility, with our team supporting as much or as little as you wish.
Can you repatriate a loved one overseas?
Yes — repatriation to Fiji and PNG is a core service with published pricing, and we repatriate worldwide. See our repatriation page for the full process and timeline.
Practical questions
How quickly can the funeral happen?
Where faith requires speed — such as Muslim burials — within a day or two. Otherwise most funerals happen within one to two weeks, and we can wait longer for family travelling from overseas.
Can we livestream the service?
Yes, with a private link and a recording afterwards. It is included in some packages and a small add-on to others.
What happens with the death certificate?
We register the death with NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages as part of every funeral, and the certificate is posted to the family — usually within two to four weeks. Extra certified copies can be ordered for banks and superannuation.
